What can a 6 to 8 month old baby eat?
Cereals: Start mixing grains with purees that you know your baby has had without any reactions.
Fruits & Veggies: Start mixing your owe fruit and veggie combinations once your baby has had several fruit/veggies without any reactions and try using different spices. At 8 months you baby can now have raw ripe fruit. And you may now want to try offering soft cooked veggies or fruits as baby finger foods.
Protein & Dairy: Once your baby has reached 8 months old, you can try offering them meats and dairy. Many pediatricians are now recommending Meats as first foods due to the Iron content – ask your pediatrician. Some Pediatricians are now suggest yogurt as a great first food as early as 6 months. Try Mixing some yogurt with a fruit puree that you already know agrees with you baby.
Remember, many pediatricians are recommending that babies start solids at 6 months of age, the earlier introduction of solid foods may have certain risk factors; consult your pediatrician. And remember to use a “4 Day Wait Rule”. This is introduce new foods, one food at a time and at a space of 4 days apart. This rule should be used in tell the baby is around 9 – 10 months, you can start introducing many new foods. As you loosen up the 4 day wait rule, it is still important to pay attention to the new foods you offer your little one, especially those foods that do pose an allergy risk.
